Paris...

When I went to Paris I obviously couldn't prevent myself from taking as many pictures as my memory card could withstand. But after a thorough process of choosing which to publish and how to publish it, here is the result:

The Iron Lady

Here is a montage of the Iron Lady, also known as the Eiffel Tower, one of Paris most prized tourist attraction. First built for the 1889 World's Fair and initially destined to be dismantled it is now an important part of the Parisian landscape and a cherished icon.

In this montage, I decided to play with the architecture and the angles offered by the structure.

The Champs de Mars

The Eiffel Tower erected in the center of the Champs de Mars, is one of Paris's key feature. On this picture, the association of different type of architecture is what makes this shot dynamic. The columns on the forefront of the shot show the alignment with the trees on the right hand side.

L’École Militaire

The building originally erected in 1750 was a military school destined to educate young officers from poor families. It stands opposite the Champs de Mars in the seventh arrondissement.

The building in itself is quite impressive and the architecture visually interesting. On this shot, you can see the main entrance to the building. On the right hand side of the photo, the rider on his horse seems to be asking the building to charge.

Les Invalides

Not far from the Eiffel tower is another important feature of Paris's architectural landscape and history: Les Invalides. Originally an hospital and retirement home for the french war veterans, Les Invalides, inaugurated in 1678, is now composed of museums and buildings telling the french military history.

I digitally altered this shot to enhance the cupola on the right hand side. The mixture of black and white and colour allow us to focus on this interesting piece of architecture.
